From the thread Unconventional Essence
Post order is as follows: @Varahel, @Cassius, @Crocell, then the bear.
Please write a short summary of an attack that may be anywhere from a few sentences to a paragraph. Staff will then roll to determine the strength of the attack and describe how it hit. Participants may request in their first posts the lowest HP they will allow their characters to reach before they forfeit. As a reminder, reaching below 10 HP results in permanent disfigurement, below 5 HP is unconsciousness, and 0 HP is death.

There was a flutter of disturbance that was much smaller than the bear, a blur of wolf that came rolling, literally, in and cursed at him for his decision. Cassius wasn’t entirely wrong though, was he insane? He felt the chill run down his back that was fueled by those disembodied voices, the whispering of the wood And the ache that called him back here. Maybe it was insanity. With this new presence, and the fight looming, he could not bring himself to thank nor speak further on the matter with Crocell, but he did feel a warmth stir that softened him as his voice and eyes steeled. ”Brace yourselves, all together!” That’s when he saw it breaking through the undergrowth still charging.

— fight —

By the natural law of tooth and claw, he found himself reacting on pure instincts. Previously coiled hind muscles sprung him forward towards the bear from straight on, partially in a leap of faith. He aimed himself toward the bear’s right side of the chest above the base of the neck, attempting to snap his jaws shut over the muscle. Right paw reaching out trying to hit the central portion of the bear’s chest to steady himself into, left paw hanging low with toes spread trying balance himself, left ready to catch himself against the ground should he drop. Hind toes curling upwards behind him, their respective legs still relatively straightened out, balancing him as his tail swung low and stiffened, ears tucking back against his head.

OOC: Varahel may drop as low as 4hp. Cheers to my first wolf fight in like ten years!

Cassius Dumonte

Relief flooded the wolf as a third wolf came to their aid. Perhaps they would stand more of a chance against the massive beast that was coming toward them. Cassius could feel the sink of his claws into the moist mud it was odd but the coolness seemed to bring a sense of calm before the storm. The rain seemed to deepen in its assault drowning away personal scent. He couldn't quite catch the scent of either wolf anymore just barely but unable to place them. Ocean blue floated against embered fire of his eyes as he drifted his gaze across the two wolves next to him. They would have to become one for this to work out. As if speaking is mind the gray wolf piped about all together.

Tension fueled his muscles as he prepared for the bear to break through the brush. Finally it happened. He hadn't expected the beast to be so massive he nearly caught his breath in his throat. "We have to hit hard and withdrawl quickly, if those claws catch any of us it's gonna be a lot of hurt our best bet it to exhaust it with speedy attacks." Just like anyone with a formal training he accessed the situation. Bears were fearsome creatures and not easy to scare off much less kill. There only hope was to drive the beast off with harassive blows.

-- FIGHT --

He watched as Varabel snapped out at the beast's lower right half of it's throat. In order to disorient the bear he circled to the left flank and flung his weight into the left side of the bear with his claws outstretched to grasp and tear at the beast's flesh. His jowls parted and snapped viciously at the bear's left ear in hopes to bite deep into the soft tissue in order give Varabel a good chance to connect with the bear's throat. If he was successful he would quickly retreat and circle the bear once more plotting his next move.

Cassius does 23 damage!
Cassius' attack is so powerful that not only does he tear a huge chunk out of the bear's left ear and cause long gashes along the bear's left flank, but his weight is just enough to cause the bear to stumble and trip over his feet, distracting him heavily!

Varahel's HP: 110

Cassius' HP: 100

Crocell's HP: 100

vs.

Bear HP: 258

It is now @Crocell's turn.

An ear turned to catch the other wolf’s strategy, and Cro nodded, just barely, in acknowledgement; there was nothing about it that disagreed with his own assessment.

Right as Cassius launched his attack from the left, Crocell took the right, circling to the rear of the bear before lunging at the heel of its hind leg. His jaws snapped tightly around its tough hide and he shook, just briefly, before leaping back and circling to lunge at its other heel. Understanding that he lacked the experience and strength of the two older wolves, he would take to guerrilla tactics in hopes to distract it from his allies assaulting it head on.

OOC: Crocell may drop to 15 hp.

Crocell deals 2 damage!
Unfortunately, just as Crocell leaps into action to snap at the bear's heels, the force of Cassius' stumbling attack causes the sudden thrash-and-shuffle of the bear's paws make it quite hard to get a good grip on the heels. Crocell is just barely able to cause a few scratches!

The force of the first two attacks and the cherry on top of the third drive the bear into a much deeper rage. Despite the force behind the three's assault, he quickly rears back on his hind paws and takes a large swipe at all three, managing to smack them all roughly on the sides of their necks with his outstretched claws. Because of the large range he must take, however, he does little more than long, shallow gashes.

The bear deals 9 damage to all opponents!

Five large but shallow gashes now adorn the left side of his neck, which was also absent several long silver and dark gray hair and in its place small trickles of blood. He felt encouraged by their previous success, though he was weary of having a false sense of victory so early on. He timed his new onslaught just as the bear was finishing its sweep of Cassius, launching himself in an attempt to crunch his jaws around the right wrist of the bear. Left paw rising and extending to use as a support of his own weight against the top part bear's forelimb, hoping that it might torsion the limb in succession with his jaws. Right leg stretched forward for balance but hanging low to the ground, rear legs stretched out and partially bent to prepare for a quick getaway.

Varahel deals 19 damage!
Varahel's attack on the bear's left wrist is just as vicious as his previous attack. His teeth are able to hold a firm grip on the bear's right wrist, so much so that the paw temporarily goes limp. The bear rears back and roars in pain, but is unable to loosen Varahel's strong hold!

Varahel's HP: 101

Cassius' HP: 91

Crocell's HP: 91

Bear HP: 237

Cassius Dumonte

Wwith a great fury the bear rose onto his haunches to wipe down at the wolves. Cassius cried out as the sharp daggers of the bear stolen into the warmth of his flesh. The parting of fur, skin, and flesh was a swift yet painful experience. The heat of the welling of blood was hard to ignore and the guard found himself wincing as the warmth in his shoulder spread. He was just glad to have ignored a blow directly to his chest.

The male braced himself for his next move. Seeing that Varahel had stole to a front paw, Cassius circled the bear weary with careful eyes before lashing forward and steeling his canines into the bear’s rear left wrist. He was hopeful the bear would be disoriented by the onslaught of many directional attacks.
